Eric is absolutely correct. The whole issue of Bird Kills by wind turbines is blown way out of proportion, but it IS an issue that resistors to your wind project will very likely cite as to why they are against your project. The Altamont Pass history is very often used to make the point that turbines kill birds. You MUST be prepared to debate this issue and Eric has provided excellent resources in his comment.

The mission of this weblog is to bring up those issues that resistors to YOUR wind project will very likely raise to try to stop you. You MUST do your homework. Forewarned really is forearmed.

It is a general MISCONCEPTION THAT WIND TURBINES KILL BIRDS.
Altamont Pass is an exception, albeit a horrible case of bad siting, old design, and high avian traffic.

This article is not representative of the general issue of birds and turbines.
Furthermore the author here casually throws out that the Altamont Pass issue is in part due to "smaller" turbines. Please be more careful and realistic when making such comments. These older turbines did not kill birds because they are "smaller", it's that they are poor designs.

This is much more substantiated article:
http://www.awea.org/faq/sagrillo/swbirds.html

This one is also more realistic:

Thank you for your time and understanding
